Midwest Conference Corner Update – May 2016

Julia MatternMay means racing in Indy and the conference team is heading into the home stretch–putting on the finishing touches and getting ready to welcome coaches from around the world to Indy, June 23-25! We can’t say enough about how much it means to have the support of the home team–our chapter–behind us.

One exciting new development to announce is that Marshall Goldsmith has agreed to give three free one-on-one sessions with attendees during the conference! All paid registrants will automatically be entered into a drawing to be held Friday morning during breakfast. The three lucky coaches chosen will meet individually with Marshall, one each during lunch on Friday and breakfast and lunch on Saturday.

In honor of our conference’s fifth anniversary, there will also be another drawing held following the closing keynote for five special gift baskets of prizes donated by our sponsors, vendors and speakers. Conference attendees will play a game to connect with vendors to be eligible for this drawing. This year, we will have more white space than ever for networking, visiting tables and simply relaxing, plus a special Vendor Appreciation Event during the pre-cocktail on Friday. WBECS will also host a photo booth for attendees to capture all the fun and new relationships formed during the conference.

Speaking of connecting, don’t forget the opening reception on Thursday, May 23, 7-9 p.m. at the Indianapolis Artsgarden. Enjoy appetizers, live classical music, art by coach artists in attendance and networking with colleagues from around the world. Even if you can’t attend the conference, you can buy a ticket to the opening reception only for $40 and be part of this great gathering of coaches. If you are attending the conference, don’t miss the opportunity to dine out with small groups of colleagues on Friday night. It’s a great way to build connections and sample some of Indy’s finest cuisine. You can peruse the list of participating restaurants and make reservations here. And when you need a little break from all the great learning and connecting, we’ll even have a special quiet room for you to recharge your batteries.

If this is your first conference, we’ve got you covered! There will be an orientation for first-time attendees on Thursday, June 23 at 6 pm in Grand 1 at the Westin. And don’t forget to take advantage of our new Ambassador program to help you make the most of your conference experience. Sign up during online registration to be connected with an Ambassador.

Another great way to meet people is to volunteer onsite. There’s already several people from Indy on the list and we always have room for more. You can work the registration table, introduce speakers, stamp passports or help in other ways. It’s fun and we promise that you will still have plenty of time to experience all our conference has to offer. Our slogan is “you don’t have to miss out to help out”!

49 days and counting-I can’t wait to see you at the Crossroads!
