Thank You for Your Support

After hosting a wildly successful Midwest Regional Conference

and offering outstanding chapter programming in 2016,
the chapter is taking a break!

We hope to continue activities by 2018.

If you are a current ICF member and would like to have a role in resuming the chapter activities by serving on the ICF Indianapolis Chapter board, please contact Kristin Kelly at International Coach Federation Global via email to learn what is expected of an ICF chapter leader and as a representative of ICF Global.

Thank you!

Margie Bieswanger

It’s time for me to say farewell and thank you. My two-year term as chapter president ends in just a few days.

It’s been both an honor and a delight to serve our chapter as president throughout 2015 and 2016.

We have much to be proud of as a chapter.

We held six in-person chapter meetings and two virtual offerings this year. We thoroughly enjoyed the variety of speakers and topics brought to Indianapolis for our members and guests. All of the presentations were informative and the speakers inspired us to take action, applying what they shared.
We hosted several social events throughout the year. We continued our popular Coffee Chats that were open to all who are interested in coaching. We “talked shop”, philosophized about aspects of coaching, made new friends, and reconnected with others. We hosted a couple of evening social events where we enjoyed a glass of wine, a bite to eat, and of course, each others company. And we capped the year with a spectacular dinner for chapter members!
By far the absolute highlight of this year was hosting the Midwest Regional Conference in June. Wow! What a privilege to experience the high level of professional development opportunities offered throughout the conference as well as the magnificent way the all-volunteer steering committee pulled it all together. It was a huge success in just about every way you could measure.
As I say goodbye, please know how much I value you as a member of our community and how much I have appreciated your support of our chapter.
Here’s to your continued success as a coach in 2017!

The holiday season will soon be upon us – for better or worse. And time seems to fly as the end of the year approaches.

I know you’ll be busy with clients, family, and traditions.

Every day we need to make smart choices about who we’ll spend time with and how we’ll spend our energy. I hope the chapter will be considered one of your smart choices!

Our chapter is here to serve you, to enhance your journey as a coach, and to support you. We’re here to help you grow and be better able to serve your clients. We’re here to serve you as a community of professionals who can share resources, tips, and friendship with one another.

It’s all a matter of choice, isn’t it? Whether or not you choose to participate in chapter events, whether or not you choose to engage with chapter members. Whether or not you even choose to become (or stay) a member of ICF Global.

I hope you’ll choose to be involved with our chapter. Why? Because we value your input. We value YOU.

We have one more Chapter Meeting on deck this month. Don’t miss this opportunity to learn more about ICF Credentialing. You can read more about the program below.

And if you need an excuse to get out of the office, socialize a bit, and connect with your fellow coaches, then by all means plan to join me at the last Coffee Chat of 2016 – on December 8th.

Well, there’s much more to tell you about, so keep reading. Stay connected. Be an active part of this community. And definitely plan to attend chapter events this year.

I can’t wait to see you again or meet you for the first time!

I have good news and bad news.

I won’t beat around the bush.

Here’s the good news: We have some great events happening between now and the end of the year. Please scroll down to read about them, mark your calendar, and join us.

Here’s the bad news: These might be the last events our chapter hosts.

Yes, you read that correctly.

Our chapter may no longer exist after this December.

Why, you ask? Well, it’s simple. Unfortunate. But simple.

We have no nominations for any ICF Indianapolis Chapter leadership role for 2017-2018.

If that doesn’t change within the next two weeks, our chapter will not be able to continue functioning.

This saddens me. And yet, I realize that the energy needed to sustain our chapter simply may not be available at this time. Perhaps a rest is needed. And then the chapter can regroup and come into existence again in the future.

The reality is that without a strong leadership team in place – a group of dedicated volunteers to organize events and keep a sense of community going – there cannot be an Indianapolis Chapter in 2017.

However, it’s not too late!

If you are a registered, dues-paying member of ICF and have been thinking of a leadership role in our chapter, NOW may be the time to act on that inspiration! You have until October 10th to contact the leadership team with your nomination.

Well, there’s much more to tell you about, so keep reading. Stay connected. Be an active part of this community. And definitely plan to attend chapter events this year.

I can’t wait to see you again or meet you for the first time!

Letter from the President | ICF Indy Chapter News | September 2016

Margie BieswangerLately I’ve noticed a topic that has come up repeatedly in conversation.

No matter who I’ve been talking to, it’s come up at some point. It could just be me. But I think it’s something that coaches have in common.

The need for variety. The fact that we have a tendency to master something and move on. That we can get bored and lose our passion if we don’t get enough variety. That we like novelty and thrive on challenge.

We like to learn. In fact, every coach I know is a self-described lifelong learner. That speaks to our need for variety, as well.

Okay, so that may or may not be true for you. I’ll say this though, “Variety is the spice of life” isn’t an age-old adage for no reason. Right?

The ‘variety’ in your life and coaching practice will look different than mine, that is almost guaranteed. But the feeling will be the same, won’t it?

So here’s my challenge to you: Do one thing in the next couple of weeks (or sooner!) to bring some joy and some “variety” into your life.

Branch out. Reach out. Connect with others. Connect with yourself. You’ll be glad you did.

If you haven’t attended a chapter event recently, that could be your “spice of life” addition. Why not take a look at all we have to offer, get registered, mark your calendar, and join us. We’d love to see you and connect!

We just had our August social event at Cooper’s Hawk Winery (group photo below) and that certainly added a bit of variety to my week. We enjoyed good food, great company, and some delicious wine, as well.

Another thing on my mind as the summer winds down is preparing to step down as the Chapter President at the end of this year. While I have thoroughly enjoyed (and continue to enjoy) leading the chapter, it’s time for someone else to take the reins. That “someone” could be you. Are you the next President of ICF Indianapolis?

Chapter TeamWill you begin thinking about joining our chapter’s leadership team by volunteering some of your expertise and time to our chapter?

Chapter Elections will be held in November and we’ll have a few positions on the Board available (including my role – President!!)

If you are a current member of ICF you’ll be hearing from the Nomination & Election Committee about the election process and the positions available, so don’t worry, you’ll be kept in the loop. And in the meantime, ask yourself how you might begin contributing to this dynamic chapter. We all benefit when you contribute!

Well, there’s much more to tell you about, so keep reading. Stay connected. Be an active part of this community. And definitely plan to attend chapter events this year.

I can’t wait to see you again or meet you for the first time!

How is your summer going? Fast, I’ll bet. I know mine is.

I do hope that you’ve carved out some time to recharge your batteries. Spend time with family and friends. Read a delicious novel. Hike a favorite (or new) trail. Take a road trip. Or maybe even spend a day doing nothing at all! Be sure to make time to do whatever makes you happy.

In fact, we have TWO social events planned this month that you are invited to attend (scroll down for details). Why not join us? It’s an opportunity to recharge your batteries by connecting with likeminded people. Plus, we always have a lot of fun when we’re together.

Summer is for having fun. So don’t miss out!
